Chateau Sociando Mallet
Bordeaux/Saint-Estèphe, France
A reputed Haut-Medoc estate, Château Sociando-Mallet counts itself among the region’s most underrated with the ability to surprise with luscious reds that make for great value. The Left Bank Château is based in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne north of Saint-Estèphe, France. The Mallet family acquired the property in the mid 19th century. The estate staged a resurgence in the 1970’s when it was bought by a prolific negociant Jean Gautreau who transformed the Château into a modern estate making premium reds. Today the Château tends to 50 hectares of vines with Cabernet Sauvignon carpeting more than half the vineyards with Merlot, a close second. The Château produces over 20,000 cases annually.
