al-fro-chee-yehroAlfrochiero is a rather interesting Portuguese red wine grape, grown mostly in the notable region of Dao with smatterings of vineyards in the southerly Tejo and Alentejo regions where it is also known as Tinta Bastardinha.

Tastes LikeAlfrocheiro Preto turns out wines of intense colour and good acidity, making it an attractive wine to blend with wines of lighter hues which is the case in most of Portugal though some Dao winemakers due produce single estate wines from the fruit.
