Canaiolo is a red grape hailing from Italy’s most popular region of Tuscany where it is the relatively low profile member of Chianti blends dominated by Sangiovese. Similar is the case with another iconic Tuscan appellation wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Canaiolo is a popular choice of grape to blend Sangiovese with because by itself, the wine is soft and perfumed with herbaceous flavours and silky tannins which nicely complements the more robust Sangiovese.
