Big Banyan
Nashik, India
Sitting outside Bengaluru city near a banyan tree that’s older than the city itself, is Big Banyan, of Karnataka’s most notable winemakers that continues to impress. The vision of the company’s chairman Paul John and immense skills of Italian winemaker, Lucio Matricardi have realized a style and range of wines that finely capture the unique soil and microclimate of India’s most southerly wine region.
Grapes are handpicked from select vineyard parcels and transported to wineries in Bengaluru and Goa for vinifying. The collection includes three red wines (Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), three white wines (Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc), a rosé wine (Rosa Rossa), a dessert wine (Bellissima) and a Limited Spring Reserve Shiraz.
