Le Galouchey
Bordeaux, France
When a world famous Sommelier sets out to make a wine in the old world bastion of Bordeaux, it stokes universal interest. Which is exactly what Marco Pelletier did with La Galouchey in the heart of Bordeaux. Marco began pursuing his lifelong passion of making his very own wine in 2002 in the Libournais appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, vinifying his first vintage in 2009.Christened Le Galouchey, the micro-estate spans less than one hectare and is distinctively labelled as vin de jardin (garden wine), a term that contrasts with vins de garage (garage wines). This emphasizes the vineyard’s natural and garden-like quality. Marco has planted nine key varietals including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, all of which are hand-harvested and separately fermented over indigenous yeasts.
