Susana Balbo is hailed as Argentina’s first woman winemaker and has played a vital role in establishing Argentina on the world wine map with an approach to winemaking that’s artisanal and environmentally conscious. Susana decided to produce her own wines in 1999 in the heart of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. The region of Lujan de Cuyo sits at an altitude of 1000 metres and is renowned for turning out Argentina’s best Malbec. Susana also owns vineyards in Mendoza’s Uco Valley which yields ripe fruit with good polyphenols. Susana is also credited with reviving Argentina’s indigenous white grape Torrontés.
