Bibi Graetz has long been tinkering with his formula for this wine, and this vintage represents a new chapter. The 2020 Testamatta is a blend of Sangiovese from old and new vines, with a priority on cooler growing conditions (and even a few northern exposures). He also has a new vineyard property near Fiesole, and the introduction of these grapes (from a breezy, high-elevation site) are what gives Testamatta its beautiful clarity, sharpness and lifted bouquet. The results are vibrant, transparent and fresh both in terms of acidity and aromatic intensity.
Is the year of destiny! Incredible strawberry felling mixed with aroma of vanilla, kind of whipped cream with strawberries! It has an incredible freshness, this is the real beauty of Testamatta 2020. This is the highest level of perfection ever reached.
When an avant garde artist find his true calling in becoming a self-taught winemaker in the heart of Tuscany, vinous magic is bound to happen. And it did, in the form of Bibi Graetz's artisanal range of wines that take Sangiovese beyond the boundaries of flavour and depth. Bibi Graetz, Testamatta "Super Tuscan" truly defines this creative winemaker's success as it is one of the few Tuscan wines to score 100 points on Decanter. Bibi Graetz established his estate in 2000 on the misty hills of Fiesole near Florence with a singular focus on Sangiovese and low intervention winemaking that channelled the terroir of the Fiesole vineyard in the wine itself. This wine is a liquid triumph of Bibi Graetz's approach and belief in the region's terroir, shimmering with cherries, herbs and a sense of the earthy, capped by silky tannins.
