The Brancaia 2021 Ilatraia is an organic blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. I like the restyled front label design presented with this vintage. This is a bold and generous wine with sweet fruit, blackberry preserves, baking spice and hints of pipe tobacco. The Ilatraia hits the palate with power, but the tannins are softly integrated for a full-bodied but velvety close.
A sleek, taut red, bordering on racy, sporting black currant, blackberry, violet and spice aromas and flavors. Firm yet balanced, with a light dusting of tannins lingering. Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Brancaia's organic and creative approach to winemaking is a gift that keeps on giving and the Ilatraia is sumptuous testament to that fact. Named after a hillside on the estate's Maremma vineyard, Ilatraia is a fruit-forward and distinctively rich blend of Bordeaux grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are organically harvested on the family estate's Maremma vineyards which benefit greatly from a Mediterranean climate and cool sea winds. Brancaia is widely credited for evolving the modern Super Tuscan style and with the opulent barrel aged Ilatraia blend teeming with black fruit, spice and soft tannins, the decorated estate has gone above and beyond.
