The Château Sociando-Mallet 2011 has an outstanding nose: very intense blackberry and raspberry fruit, fine delineation and tension, a real humdinger! The palate is fresh and vibrant with fine tannin, plenty of grainy red berry fruit mixed with cedar and bay leaf, with great conviction on the finish. This is a great Sociando Mallet from Jean Gartreau - expect it to land at the top of that banded score.
This has a slightly gutsy core of red and black currant paste flavors, laced with licorice root and tar notes through the grippy finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2021. 27,500 cases made.
The wines of Sociando-Mallet are characterized by a very deep and dark color, complex aromas of little red fruits and a well-integrated fine aoky touch. they are by tradition long-keeping wines. The wines are full-bodied, straight and elegant, with a lot of freshness and depth
Haut Medoc is Left Bank's largest appellation yet curiously underrated thanks to is illustrious neighbours. The terroir contains potential to yield Cabernets Sauvignon driven wines that can age for decades. And this is where Chateau Sociando-Mallet has been making wines true to terroir since the 1970s when it was founded by visionary Bordelais Jean Gautreau. His selection of vineyards close to the Gironde estuary on primarily gravel soil has led to this deliciously Cabernet dominated blend that displays intense colour and exquisite length. Savour this stellar age-worthy Bordeaux.
