A worthy competitor with Mosel for making sublime Rieslings, Nahe is gifted with over 180 soil types, chief among them, volcanic and slate which Donnhoff makes the most of in the sub region of Oberhausen. Winemaker Helmut Dönnhoff counts Robert Parker as one of the fans of his Trocken (dry) Riesling which he produces organically, depriving the vines of any irrigation so the plant works extra hard to produce concentrated grapes that make a white wine, shining with stone fruit, minerality and gushing acidity.
