Langhe might not be a region mentioned as often as Bordeaux and Burgundy though it really ought to be. This Piedmont denomination contains the towns of Barolo and Barbaresco where some of the world's finest red wines are produced and Produttori del Barbaresco highlights Langhe's invaluable terroir with this full bodied Nebbiolo. This remarkable cooperative was begun by Don Fiorino Marengo, the local priest in 1958 who brought together 19 wine growers to make superb Nebbiolo of which this wine is a fine representation, beaming with the influence of calcium-clay soils and unoaked wholesome character enlivening the palate
