RODA I is blended with parcels that that year have ripened in a black fruit profile. The deep black fruit, is almost always dominated by the plumb and supported by mineral notes, chocolate and balsamic sensations, that form an ensemble that slowly flows from the furthest side of the glass until it becomes huge in the entrance of the nose. In the mouth, the volume becomes evident, the fruit complexity nicely surrounds the mouth cavity showing the numerous and polished tannins. The wine gets longer making stronger the retro nasal sensation every time we breathe. A fruity and fresh sensation will last, inviting us to continue drinking.

Roda rests assuredly on its reputation for making red wines that marry power and elegance, thanks to wines like this top shelf Tempranillo. Roda 1 Reserva, as the name gives away, is the house's peak Rioja expression. Bodegas Roda's reputation for mastering the art of making high quality reserve wine is borne out beautifully with this barrel age expression crafted by the Daurella family that began 30 years ago. The Roda I, Reserva is far and away, the estate's top wine containing 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. The grape is picked from 30 year old bush vines by the Daurella . The wine has been aged in new and used French oak barrels and cellared for 20 months. This fine red wine impresses with a palate of expressive dark fruit, cinnamon, dark chocolate and a memory of the earth.
