Bottle Story+
This Tuscan DOCG produced from Sangiovese Grosso is regarded as a first among equals in Italy and the world over for its depth and dimension of flavour and potential for eternal ageing. So when a wine of such steep reputation is vinified by a family of artists, expectations can only rise further. Romitorio's Brunello Di Montalcino exceeds those expectations with a style that Robert Parker has called a leader in the Montalcino market. This family estate was founded by artist Sandro Chia who now entrusts his son Filippo with making Romitorio's acclaimed wines. The vineyards are farmed with minimal intervention and the yields are kept deliberately low, reflecting Sandro's philosophy of enhancing the virtues that already exist in the vineyard. The concentrated grapes are fermented and barrel aged for two years with 10 months of bottle ageing. The wine has been rated 94 points by Robert Parker and 97 points by Wine Spectator, brimming with flavours of sour cherries, red currants, and cedar, crowned by surreal length.
