Weingut Rudolf FurstORIGIN
Germany, FrankenTASTING NOTES
The Tradition is the estate Spatburgunder and comes from grapes grown in the vineyard that sits just below the Furst family home and winery. Expressive cool red fruits with flecks of blueberries mix with cinnamon and liquorice. The palate is overlaid with the fresh mint and sour cherry flavours so typical of this estate. This 2020 is lifted and bright thanks to a keen acidity and a dusting of gentle tannins. The most fabulous introduction to this high-quality estate

Bottle Story+
When Jancis Robinson singles out a German winemaker as a Pinot magician', then one ought to take this estate's Spatburgunder very seriously. The Germans take great pride in their version of the Pinot Noir which they call the Spatburgunder and Rudolf Furst has made the challenging grape, its singular pursuit in the region of Franken. 400 years of winemaking history is no guarantee for success when it comes to Pinot Noir but the father and son duo of Paul and Sebastian have toiled to convert the fruit handpicked from steep southern facing vineyards, anchored in iron-laden soils into a graceful, trance-inducing red, led by cherries and cinnamon, finishing with just the hint of tannins and oak finesse.
