This peerless red wine is steeped in rich history that stretches back across 14 generations. Gigondas in Southern Rhone is where Chateau Saint Cosme is based, run lovingly by the Barruol family since 1570. In fact wine has been produced in that space since Roman times. This top end Rhone blend is one of its finest achievements. Louis Barruol, who took over as winemaker from his father over 30 years ago personally rates his Gigondas red as a wine of great finesse. High quality grapes are handpicked from the estate's own vineyards at the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain and barrel fermented before being aged for 12 months under oak. The Grenache led blend shines with violets, blackberry and pepper, finishing long with pure elegance.
