Bottle Story+
The village of Puligny-Montrachet is hailed as the king of white wines and rightly so for the decades of vintages containing peerless Chardonnay. Located in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune region, Puligny Montrachet's unique micro climate coupled with limestone rich soils and a high water table that pushes the vines's roots deeper into the soil, yield a Chardonnay expression of brilliant distinction. That is sumptuously evident with the Vincent Girardin, Puligny-Montrachet "Vieilles Vignes". The name Vieilles Vignes which is French for old vines says it all.The 45 year old vines are hard workers, turning out grapes of superb concentration and acidity. Wild yeast fermentation is done in large French oak barrels, imbuing the wine with a true sense of Puligny Montrachet and a rich veneer. The wine has been barrel aged for 14 months and bottled according to the Lunar calendar. This opulent Chardonnay crackles with flavours of lemongrass, honey and minerality.
