For seven generations the Gonet family has tended vineyards in theChampagne region and nurtured a cellar founded in 1783 that lies beneaththe family home. The house is based in the Mesnil-sur-Oger appellation alsoknown as Côte des Blancs where Chardonnay is the dominant grape. PhilippeGonet is notable for its policy of ageing its wines for a minimum of threeyears on the lees.The average age of the family estate vines is between 30 and 40 years, withone historical parcel planted in 1929. The house lays great emphasis onsustainable viticulture and is certified under the HVE (High EnvironmentalValue certification) which essentially requires a focus on renewingbiodiversity in the vineyard.
