Romain Guiberteau began his vinous journey on a whim in 1996 but rapidlyemerged the grand vigneron’ of Loire Valley, turning out stunning vintages inSaumur appellation’s Brézé vineyards rooted in limestone soils and highly valuedfor the quality of its Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Loire Valley has long beenunderrated, compared to Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone Valley but modern andcreative winemakers like Guiberteau have been shining a light on Loire Valley’simmense potential. Guiberteau is a protégé of Clos Rougeard, who helpedredefine Loire’s Saumur region and Guiberteau has taken to the next level withhis organic, low interventionist approach. In the appellation of Brézé, Guiberteauhas organically farmed the best vine parcelsto turn out a stellar Chenin Blancthat draws on flint soils to express delightful minerality to go with citrus andpeach while his Cab Franc’ impresses with barrel aged charm and palate ofsucculent cherries and herbs
