Stark Conde

Stark-Conde is a boutique South African winery based in Stellenbosch thattakes an interesting approach to wine making. The estate was establishedby Cuban-American wine enthusiast Jose Conde in 1998. Today, the wineryproduces around 6000 cases of wine a year, and is recognized for theconsistently high quality of its vintages.Stark-Conde owns 40 hectares (100 acres) in the Jonkershoek Valley,which is considered to be a prime region for red varieties. The vineyardsare planted on steep slopes above sea level, providing excellent drainagewhich helps control the vines’ vigour. This redirects energy into berryproduction, and allows the vine to produce fine examples of CabernetSauvignon and Syrah.
