2019 was a warm year, but the style of the wines is quite balanced, and the 2019 Corimbo shows quite faithful with the character of the year. It has a contained 14% alcohol and shows balance and seriousness. The nose shows some restraint, with varietal berry fruit and measured oak. It matured for 14 months in oak barrels, 80% of them French and the rest American
Voluminous, elegant and with lots of finesse. Fruits and aromatic herbs from a harmonious and very delicate set. Cherry and blackberry stand out. There is a certain sweetness that comes from a warm and excellent vintage. Refreshing balsamic notes appear reminiscent of mint and marshmallow. The touch is very pleasant and there is a perception of high quality fine and sweet tannins that give it life.
Roda enjoys majestic reputation for its Rioja wines but not one to rest on its laurels, the family estate also makes impressive reds in the neighbouring region of Ribera Del Duero. And this particular wine is a standout, expressing Tempranillo at its modern organic, elegant best. Vinified organically from fruit grown on old bush vines rooted in clay and sandy soils of La Horra and Roa de Duero, this boutique Tempranillo was barrel aged for 14 months in French and American oak. Roda's winemaker wanted the wine to reflect the freshness and complexity of Ribera del Duero so he let native yeast ferment the juice. He also went the extra mile of fermenting vineyard parcels separately in order to preserve distinct characteristics. This Ribera Del Duero style shines with through in the eventual wine that dazzles with a concentration f cherry and blackberry complimented by herbs and fine tannins to finish.
