Bottle Story+
It is indeed a challenge to do justice in describing a red wine that is regarded as the abiding standard for Brunello di Montalcino and is regarded as one of the originals. Nearly every wine critic and magazine has given the Il Poggionne Brunello Di Montalcino high points and high praise for its concentrated fruit, sublime structure and ageing potential. Tenuta Il Poggione is in fact one of three original makers of Brunello di Montalcino and family estate which was founded at the end of the 19th century by Lavinio Franceschi is today managed by the family's fifth generation heirs Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi. Along with acclaimed oenologist Alessandro Bindocci, the family has crafted a classic award winning style that expresses rich tones of blackberries, dried cherries, tobacco and smoked tobacco, elevated long barrel ageing with touches of minerality and supreme length.
