When the first lady of Argentine wine chooses to make a barrel aged, terroir driven expression of Malbec, it can only mean a spectacular tasting experience is in store. That is exactly what the Ben Marco Malbec is, envisioned by Susana Balbo and realised by her head viticulturist Edy Del Popolo. Susana created the Ben Marco label to recognise the the best terroirs in Mendoza and Argentina through a low intervention winemaking process in order to reveal their true essence and character. And this barrel aged Malbec exemplifies this philosophy, produced from handpicked grapes harvested on Uco Valley's Los Chacayes vineyard, selected specifically by Susana and Edys for its combination of height and relatively warmer temperatures with gravel soils. This combination literally bore high quality concentrated Malbec grapes which were gently crushed and barrel aged for 11 months, eventually expressing blackberries, black cherries, hints of violets and sublime tannic length.
